Once again, I wasted almost an entire weekend hunting rare pets for my Hunter.

I just don’t have the patience to sit and camp for hours (which I why I will never see Loque’nahak) but I will take a run through spawn spots once in a while because you never know.

Now that the extremely rare Unborn Val’kyr shares a few spawn locations with rare Hunter pets, the CRZ activity is at an all-time high.

I’d insert my usual CRZ rant here, but I actually met a nice hunter while I was hanging around Ankha’s spawn area.  She asked me which one I was looking for and I told her Ankha because I already had Magria (they share spawns so it’s a crap shoot which one will turn up.)

Well, she was looking for Magria so we decided to “team up” and shoo away other hunters because no matter which one spawned (if at all) one of us could get the tame.

It isn’t nearly as boring sitting around waiting if you have someone to talk with so we had a great time trading “hunter” stories and rare pet strategies.

It was getting really, really late so I had to go but we exchanged Battletags because we will probably see each other running after those Hunter rares.

The next day I talked with her and Magria had spawned about 10 minutes after I left so she got the tame.  She is still looking for a spider in the area but hadn’t managed to snag it yet.

Who doesn’t want a Black Cat with red glowy eyes?

I had done enough quests to open the FL dailies so I could “see” Magria/Ankha, but I hadn’t done enough to get past the fire barrier at the Molten Front – which is exactly where Skarr hangs out.

So…I corpse-dragged my way through the fire – yes, yes I did – then tried to hop on the floating rocks to get close to Skarr’s spawn points.  Of course I fell (stupid jumping puzzles) and without the quest and a Druid to save me, I dropped into infinity until I died.

One more corpse run back and when I was healing up I spotted two glowy red eyes past the floating rocks – Skarr!

I jumped on the closest rock and hit Tame Beast keeping my fingers crossed it was within range, and I got the tame.  Luckily once tamed Skarr leaped over the floating rocks to stand beside me, because no way I would be able to go get him!

Savage and Portent

My new CRZ Hunter buddy had showed me a beautiful tiger she had tamed – Savage – that is one of the Hunter challenge pets in the Jade Forest.

There are a few Pandaria pets just for hunters that are invisible to everyone but leave “tracks” only hunters can see and if you find the end of “active” tracks, you can reveal the pet with Flares and tame it.

So I spent a few hours running around looking for tracks and finally got Savage and the purple and green versions of Portent.

I found the red Portent but had to fight off a bunch of mobs and when I was done I lost the tracks and never found it again.

If only Hunters had a stealth ability like Camo…

Yeah, forgot about Camo…

I was starting to feel guilty about hunting pets instead of gearing up, so I ran a few scenarios and got a new bow, helm and gloves.

In between scenarios, I got a whisper from my new CRZ Hunter buddy – Ankha was up!  She was in the area checking for the spider and saw it running around.  I ran over there as fast as I could and got the tame seconds before a couple of Horde hunters showed up – yikes it was close!

Ghostcrawler

My Hunter buddy suggested I go look for Ghostcrawler because she had found him around the same time so off I went and found him within a couple of minutes.

Six new pets in about one day – not too bad at all!

I finally did get my Hunter to level 90 and got the “Quintessential Quintet” Achievement for reaching the maximum level with 5 different classes.

Yup, now I have 7 level 90s doing nothing…
