I was uncommonly lucky this weekend finding Netherwing Eggs – about 16 total that gave me 4,000 extra reputation points and with the dailies, was enough to push me into Exalted (and earns the On Wings of Nether Achievement.)

I found a few at the Dragonmaw Fortress and the rest just flying around the Netherwing Ledge and running through the Netherwing Mine.

It makes a big difference if you can look for eggs when the server is less busy.  I went searching for eggs around 1:00 am server time – no one around and eggs everywhere!

Here’s a little tip that might be useful if you’re hunting eggs – the mining and herb nodes have a bluish smoke or vapor, the eggs have a distinctive purple color that makes them easy to spot – look for the purple smoke!

I didn’t find very many eggs outside on the ground, but I did find a lot of eggs on top of crystals and hill peaks.  Just make sure you fly high enough not to aggro the Dragonmaw Transporters!

As soon as you reach Exalted, the Bow to the Highlord and Lord Illidan Stormrage quests unlock that start an interesting script, and you are carried to Shattrath Lower City to pick your free Netherwing Drake!

I picked the Reins of the Onyx Netherwing Drake for my free mount – what a beauty!

The last quest chain gave me the maximum 999/1000 Exalted reputation, so I didn’t have to fly all the way to Nagrand for the Disrupting the Twilight Portal quest. I won’t miss that one at all!

I made the trip back to see Drake Dealer Hurlunk at the Netherwing Base Camp and purchased the Veridian Drake.  I plan to purchase all of them but at 200 gold each, I’ll be buying one at a time!

The Oracles “Mysterious Egg”

My first “Mysterious Egg” hatched, and in it was the Proto-Drake Whelp.

I purchased another egg, so in a week I’ll see if I’m really lucky and get the Reins of the Green Proto-Drake.

I suspect getting the Green Proto-Drake will be as unlucky for me as getting that Recipe: Delicious Chocolate Cake…
