Kalu’ak Rep

I apparently missed an entire quest chain for the Kalu’ak in the Borean Tundra.  My Warrior pal and I were finishing up the last D.E.H.T.A. quest for the D.E.H.T.A.’s Little P.I.T.A. Achievement and picked up the “Honored Ancestors” quest at the big rock – more Kalu’ak reputation!

I was sure I had completed all the quests but I obviously missed this quest chain that will give another 2200 reputation points and get me a little closer to that fishing pole.

Might be a good idea to double-check the quest list.

Dalaran Fishing

I picked up all the cooking/fishing dailies in Outland (finally got the last fishing quest I needed for the Old Man Barlowned Achievement) and Dalaran – nothing particularly interesting in the rewards although I can start stocking up on the Northern Spices.

I now have a grand total of 3 cooking awards – enough to purchase one recipe.  I haven’t decided yet whether to just keep saving them for the Chef’s Hat or just splurge and get the Critter’s Bites recipe to cook up for the Critter Gitter Achievement – decisions, decisions!

The Chef’s Hat will significantly decrease cooking time but I’m more happy with the thought of wearing something that isn’t one of the boring helmets.  I’ll switch to my fishing hat when I’m not out and about questing or fighting – WoW definitely needs more snappier hats!

I’m not an avid hat collector – if I happen to get one as a quest reward or drop I’ll keep it since it’s nice to switch out of those helmets once in a while.

So far my favorites are the Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat, Mirren’s Drinking Hat and one that looks like a witch’s hat although I don’t know the name of it at the moment.

It would be fun to get a pirate’s hat but I’d have to work hard to get my reputation up with the Bloodsail Buccaneers faction for the Bloodsail Admiral’s Hat (they’re still angry with me for stealing their Hyacinth Macaw) and well, I’m not up to spending time with them again to try for the First Mate’s Hat at the moment.

According to El’s Extreme Anglin’ fishing in Dalaran requires an open water fishing skill of 525 to avoid catching junk.

I’ve already maxed out my fishing skill to 450 and the Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat adds a +5 skill equipped.  Using the hat increases the fishing skill by 75 for 10 minutes so that gives me more than enough to fish in Dalaran without catching junk.

Fishing Dalaran Underbelly

I spent an hour or two fishing there and fished up at least one of everything including a few vials except of course, the Dustbringer and the Giant Sewer Rat, but I really didn’t expect to get either of them.

I got quite a few Magic Eaters, ate one and turned into a cockroach.  I was having so much fun scuttling and buzzing around I forgot to get a screen shot of my toon this time, but it’s easy to catch a ton of Magic Eaters so I’ll try again and see what happens.  If I get the cockroach again, I’ll try to get a shot of it with the cockroach pet just for fun.

Fishing at the Violet Hold

After fishing in the Underbelly for a while, I tried fishing up at the Violet Hold and fished up a Rusty Prison Key.  I unlocked the Rusted Prisoner’s Footlocker and received the Chain Gang Leggings, a few potions, Crude Eating Utensils and a Water Soaked Letter.

The Chain Gain Leggings are nice but require level 80 so they will have to sit in the bank for a while until I level up.

My other catches were mostly fish but I did fish up quite a few Half Empty and Half Full Bottles of Prison Moonshine just in case one needs to relax in the bar after a round of fishing.

Noblegarden Achievements

The last female I needed for the Shake Your Bunny-Maker Achievement was an Orc.  I had no luck scouting one out, but while I was fishing there was an announcement over one of the channels that female Taurens and Orcs would be at the bank for those working on the achievement – many thanks to the players who kindly parked their toons for while!

I raced over to the bank, got my achievement which finished up with the Noble Gardener Achievement and the Noble title.

Now I need to start gearing up for the Children’s Week – there are pets to be earned!
