Sons of Hodir for Fun and Profit

Reputation with the Sons of Hodir is definitely one of the fastest, most efficient and profitable I’ve done so far in WoW.

It’s a rather long quest chain to get to the dailies, but once you have access to all of them reputation builds up very quickly.

Most of the dailies occur in the same area close to the quest givers so several can be completed with one trip – no flying from one end of Northrend to the other!

In addition there are two turn-ins that give extra reputation: Relics of Ulduar and Everfrost Chips.  Relics of Ulduar will accumulate very fast just from doing the dailies – I would generally get between 40-60 each time.

Everfrost Chips are a little more rare – similar to the Netherwing Eggs.  I never managed to find one but I wasn’t actively looking for them.  Relics were so easy to get I reach exalted in no time at all.

As an added bonus, a little gold can be made skinning, plenty of Crystalized Water and Fire drops and if you are an Engineer with a Mote Extractor, lots of Arctic Clouds floating around.

And you will need that extra gold if you want to purchase the 10,000 gold Reins of the Grand Ice Mammoth.  I might keep doing the dailies just to save up for the Mammoth.

Gnomeregan Exiles

Unlike the Sons of Hodir, getting to Exalted with the Gnomeregan Exiles is a tough grind.  There are few quest that directly give reputation – most reputation is from spill-over with other Alliance quests.

I had to backtrack quite a bit for reputation, particularly picking up low-level quests  in Dun Morogh, Darkshore, Stonetalon Mountains, Bloodmyst Isle and Loch Modan.

Of course there is the inevitable cloth turn-ins, but looking at the cost of turning in several hundred Rune Cloth was just too expensive.

Since I had already completed many of these quests I was running out of ideas to reach Exalted until the Argent Tournament.

Working on the Valiant and Champion dailies for the Gnomeregan Exiles got me about halfway through Revered and that was with skipping the nasty At the Enemy’s Gates quest.

I probably would have reached Exalted in a few days with the Tournament dailies but I wanted to finish it up quickly and found one easy quest that granted 500 reputation – Underground Assault – in the Deadmines.

So….back to the Deadmines (a lot easier with my level 80 Hunter than my level 24 Priest!), completed the quest and that was enough reputation points to push me into Exalted so I could purchase all the Mechanostriders.

This was also the last Alliance Exalted reputation I needed for the Ambassador of the Alliance Achievement.

The Worst Reputation Grind Award

The worst of all has to be the Wintersaber Trainers reputation grind.  I’ll work on this one a little every day but two hours is the maximum I can take of gathering meat, killing furbolgs or giants and running back and forth to turn-in and pick up the quests as this grind is more than mind-numbing.

The furbolgs and giants quests are not very time-efficient, but if the areas are not too busy with other players I’ll do them just to break the monotony.

I just hope I can get to Exalted before Cataclysm is released.  Only 110 more turn-ins……

Alliance Vanguard

I still have to find a few more things to do for Alliance Vanguard reputation to reach Exalted and purchase the Schematic: Mekgineer’s Chopper.

I went to pick up a few quests for the Valiance Expedition and tried the Break the Blockage daily.  Apparently I’m just as lousy with targeting bombs as I am with vehicles because I had to take 3 or 4 very slow rides on the zeppelin to bomb all the targets.

The next day I just landed on a pirate ship, killed all the pirates, shot down the cannons and done!  Much faster than riding that zeppelin around and around and around…

I also picked up an interesting and fun side quest chain – In Worg’s Clothing.  I don’t know if it grants any reputation points, but you get to wear a Worg costume!
